As a reception teacher with a pupil who has had a transplant, we want to do all we can to help & support the family. At the end of the day health is more important than education - children catch up. We found providing things to try to keep the boredom at bay on days the child can't get into school important. If you are offered home tutoring - take it & keep it up if possible, even when the child returns to school - you never know when you might need it - a bout of chicken pox or a stomach bug in school can put you back weeks (& if you stop the home tutoring but then need it again you have to re-apply etc). As far as returning to school is concerned we should work at your pace, it's a big step for all concerned (& parents it's good for you to have a break too).

Yes I agree. Getting back can sometimes be hard for kids. The school in turn should do all it can to help the child catch up.
